Coil Design of a Wireless Power-Transfer Receiver Integrated into a Left Ventricular Assist Device

This study deals with the design of a near-field wireless power transfer (WPT) system applied to left ventricular assist device (LVAD) treat patients heart-failure problems. An LVAD is an implanted electrically driven pump connected heart and traditionally powered by batteries external human body via percutaneous driveline cable. The main challenge wirelessly powering deep in relatively high efficiency levels. Here optimal primary secondary WPT coils proposed improve performance WPT, avoiding possible safety problems electromagnetic fields (EMF). As result, average 5 W continuously delivered working at 6.78 MHz total (DC–to–DC) approximately 65% for worst-case configuration.
